In four words, "Mediocre food, terrible service."

In slightly more words, "If you need a local option for Mexican, don't mind waiting a lot and aren't expecting much, this is the place for you if you're -really- craving Mexican."

I recently stopped by La Posada in a lull time of day, maybe four or five on a Sunday afternoon. Only two other people were inside eating. After being seated by the hostess she proceeds to walk into the back without saying anything. About three or four minutes later she finally returns with my actual waiter, who gives me a menu and a glass of water, along with the usual chips and salsa one receives at a Mexican restaurant. I thanked him for the menu and chips. He nodded and returned to the back.

I decided what I wanted relatively quickly, but it easily took him over five minutes to return to the table. During this time I noticed the couple that had been there before me was getting antsy, waiting for their check as they had finished. As he came out he gave them their check and took my order. I ordered a chicken quesadilla with a side of guacamole, and a glass of lemonade. He took the order to the kitchen and returned for the other table's check. During this whole time, I suppose I should point out the hostess was in the dining room with us, sitting on her phone or tablet or something over at the main desk. Obviously waiting on customers isn't her job, but perhaps she should've kept the waiter more on top of his job.

After receiving my lemonade and guacamole side for the chips from earlier, I was relatively surprised when my quesadilla arrived very quickly, easily within I'd say about six or seven minutes. This made me relatively reserved, as one might understand, as usually it takes longer to make a fresh quesadilla. That was obviously my mistake, as when I tasted it I could easily tell the chicken, while fairly well cooked, was not freshly made. It had definitely been cooked earlier and refrigerated and reheated at least once before being cooked in the quesadilla itself. I was heartily disappointed as I was under the impression that the food was made fresh to order. Otherwise, it was a pretty decent quesadilla. The crispy edge of the tortilla was excellent, but the middle fold was rather soggy for a quesadilla, and made me think more of a tortilla used in a burrito.

The rest of the meal passed uneventfully until the end, where I had to wait once more for the waiter to return from the back, and wait for the check after that. During the time he spent fetching the check, I accidentally spilled some water on myself. As I was attempting to clean it up when he returned, he just dropped the check on the table and returned to the back, leaving me with a damp shirt, a wet table, and a sodden napkin. I was very put out by this, and honestly considered not tipping at all. Finally after paying and getting my receipt, I took my leftover quesadilla in a box and left, very disappointed with the overall experience.

Don't know why one review says it's mediocre. I had a steak buritto, was very good. The habanero sauce they gave me when I asked for hotsauce was the bomb digitty. I'm gonna go back to eat a Chile releno and re-rate to a 5 if it's good.

Food is great, prompt service in a quaint 10 table restaurant.

Inexpensive, simple Mexican. Decent food, neighborhood atmosphere. Be aware: service is on the slow side.
